Many thanks to Tim’s owners Paul Crawford & Rob Everard for your support! Many thanks to EVERYONE who purchased the cookies (despite many that looked less that perfect I am sure! THANK YOU
The crew of the HMCS Goose Bay were in port this past weekend and donated $1300 to our SPCA! They are such a wonderful bunch every time they come to town they not only make a donation but also come for a visit to the shelter to lend a hand for a few hours! This trip was a bit extra special as one of the crew took a little friend with him! (With the blessing of the captain and his family!). All the crew say it’s a morale booster visiting with us when they come to town - and they have a little morale booster on board with them for the next two weeks until they all go home for a well deserved break! Lots of love and safe travels to this fantastic bunch of people!

THANK YOU
To the CanFel Foundation who generously provided us with another $30,000 grant for our Pawsitive Helpers program! This program helps vet costs for animals in our care, as well as for spay/neuter & vaccinations for low income pet owners. Even though our last bit of program money ran out a couple of months ago, we still made it a priority to help low income pet owners who reached out to us for assistance as we don’t want to see an animal suffer needlessly - or add to the pet population unnecessarily! We currently have a $10,000 vet bill to be paid for all the animals we’ve helped over the past couple of months! That’s why this grant is SO important as well as your support for all our fundraisers! THANK YOU CANFEL & OUR MANY FRIENDS OF THE SPCA! September 2022 |

To Terry Casey in L’Anse au Loup and his group of 8 young men & women (aged 15-18) at Our Lady of Labrador Catholic Church in West Ste. Modeste (serving the communities of Red Bay, Pinware, West Ste. Modeste, Capstan Island & L’Anse au Loup) for donating all this great stuff to our SPCA! In preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, Terry - who is instructing the group - had them do a service project & this year their focus was the SPCA in HV-GB.
Terry says “We have prepared a hefty care package, we are sending your way. This package has been put together with lots of love & compassion. Their care package includes: bags of food, treats, toys, a fur baby bed, leashes, blankies, etc…. The package is being delivered to you, through the kindness of Junior Flynn with OnTime Courier, Tuesday of this coming week. I’m sure your fur babies will enjoy it to the fullest!” Terry and his wife Rosina also adopted a furbaby from us 11.5 years ago! THANKS SO MUCH to Terry and his wonderful crew of young men & women for taking on this projectand thinking of us! May 2022 |
My goodness, where do we start with this one?
Pictured here is Don Singleton. He was a great friend and supporter of our SPCA. As a lawyer, we were always able to give him a call for direction or advice on any issues we felt needed a legal perspective. He always made time for those chats even though he probably had 500 other things on his plate!
He was also an animal lover to the core. While working periodically on the coast over a few years, he helped rescue many dogs and pups and sent them to us to be cared for and eventually adopted.
He eventually adopted a dog from us that we helped to re-home.
Tragically, Don passed away in 2021 and we were all so devastated for his family and his pup.
On that note, we are humbled and appreciative beyond words for a recent donation of $15,000 to our SPCA made in his memory by his son, Micheal Singleton. We wish to thank Michael from the bottom of our hearts for his generosity & thoughtfulness. Lots of love from our board, our staff, our volunteers & especially our 4-legged residents

THANK YOU! To Finn Moores - who is visiting his Nan, Sandra Rumbolt, in Mary’s Harbour from Alberta - and donated $101 of his birthday money (he turned 8 on Aug 13) to our SPCA!
Sandra says:
“He is visiting us in Mary’s Harbour from Alberta after not seeing him for 1 1/2 years. He loves Labrador, calls it home, and comes every year to spend time with us.
His birthday was on August 13th and he wanted to share the kindness that people showed him by giving some of his birthday money to help the animals. Our 9 1/2 year old Yorkie passed away on August 10th and she meant a lot to Finn, so this donation is in memory of Keisha Seashell
Please keep up the great work for the animals of Labrador!”
Lots of love to both of you from our four-legged critters!

Pennies for Paws
The students at Peacock Primary in Happy Valley-Goose Bay were quite busy
during the month of May. The entire month of May was dedicated to raising money for the local S.P.C.A shelter in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The students did this by participating in the shelter’s “Pennies for Paws” fundraising effort. Each of the 16 classrooms in the school had their very own bucket for collecting any pennies and other coin that the students brought in to donate. Students brought in money that was found around their house, saved up in piggy banks and weekly allowances. It was great to see such amazing participation in such a worthwhile cause. The students enjoyed seeing their buckets fill up more and more each and everyday! By the end of May the school had raised a total of $1455.61 for the HV-GB S.P.C.A!!!!!! Way to go students of Peacock Primary!!! Your donation will go a long way in helping build the new animal shelter!!!!
